India’s
largest and the most loved Marathi publishing house, Mehta Publishing House
celebrates its 10 years in its Sadashiv Peth, Pune corporate office. Since its
inception in the year 1976 by Mr. Anil Mehta, we began publishing in October
1976 with Malavarchi Maina, a collection of short stories by Dr. Anand Yadav,
being the first in the list. This was the time when Mehta Publishing House was
located near Perugate Police Station in Pune. A humble beginning from their
lead to the mammoth numbers of 150 new titles every year and an active backlist
of over 3000 titles and 300 reprints.
Known for
its strong fiction and narrative non-fiction list, Mehta Publishing House
publishes across virtually every segment including biography, travel, business,
politics, history, religion and philosophy, lifestyle, cookery, health and
fitness, sports and leisure, e-Books and even children’s books.
With the
initial publishing of only Marathi titles, Mehta Publishing House started
publishing the Marathi translations of books from all genres from other Indian
languages like Bengali, Hindi, Kannada and Gujarati along with English. Apart
from these, we have also published the English as well as Marathi translations
of original writings in Korean as well as Japanese languages.
Apart from
being the trendsetters in Marathi, Mehta Publishing House has recently forayed
into the publishing of English books with initial 40 titles across various
genres like biographies, self help, motivational, cooking, health and fitness,
humor, lifestyle, fiction, relationships etc.
After thirty
seven years of hard work and commitment Mehta Publishing House is the proud receiver
of Sahitya Akademi Award & Marathi Sahitya Parishad Award. We have won an
award for the Excellence in Book Production by The Federation of Indian
Publishers. We have been felicitated by the Pune Municipal Corporation in 1991
for our tremendous contributions in Marathi literature. Mehta Publishing House
is also a receiver of the Distinguished Publisher Award for 96-97 from The
Federation of Indian Publishers. We are also the recepients of the "V.P.
Bhagwat Award" in 1996-97 which is the most prestigious award in the
Marathi book publishing. Our founder CEO, Mr. Anil Mehta has served as the
Ex-President of Marathi Prakashak Parishad along with being the Ex-Vice
President (West) Federation of Indian Publishers.
But all this
couldn’t have been achieved without the constant unending love and support
received from all our authors, translators, proof readers, editors, associates
and ofcourse, our readers who have been selfless with their support to us
throughout.
Thank You
all and Happy Reading !!
